Before having my first child, I was terrified of the act of giving birth. Pregnancy didn’t scare me nearly as much as the idea of having to birth that baby after he finished growing. I went through that pregnancy with the support of my husband and a friend with a passion for birth. After a long labor I ended up with an unplanned C section. My next birth was radically different. With the support of a doula and empowered to do the research I was able to have a successful VBAC, and then another. This experience led to a deep passion for evidence based, trauma informed doula practice; focusing on prioritizing both an ideal, rewarding childbirth experience and the life saving medical interventions sometimes needed in high risk patients. While I will joyfully join the birth team for any mom, and value, love, and support both low intervention hospital birth and homebirths, I have a deep love for high risk births. I will get into the nitty gritty with you about any and all recommended interventions to help you feel empowered to make evidence based decisions about your own care, and be a passionate advocate for whatever choices you make. I believe our bodies were made to deliver our babies. I also believe that no tool should be demonized or rejected, or likewise accepted, without due diligence. Overall I believe that every birth should be supported.
I would love to connect with you, and if you believe we are a good fit, to join your birth team.
